My daughters share a few thoughts about being homeschooled.

“I appreciated homeschooling because of the relaxed environment it provided. We were able to learn in creative ways and be catered to according to our specific learning styles. There were many opportunities to learn life skills as well as core subjects through our daily activities. My mother made a point to get us involved in many activities with other kids such as through church organizations, science programs, and homeschool co-ops. I am very grateful for being able to learn about God and do my schoolwork in a warm and healthy environment.”

“I am so thankful for the opportunity that I had to be homeschooled. By being homeschooled I was able to experience a lot of emotional and academic nurturing. I had the opportunity and flexibility to go to a lot of places and try new things. Homeschooling also provided the necessary time to embark on any new interest I had. Being homeschooled also created a special bond between my sisters and me. I think that many of my attributes that help me succeed today, are a result of me being homeschooled and receiving that special care and attention from my mother.”

“During 10th grade, I played violin in a university orchestra and traveled to Puerto Rico for their concert tour. Learning one afternoon that I’d been homeschooled ‘all my life,’ one of the adult members advised that I spend at least one year in a traditional school setting in order to be ‘better prepared’ for college and the world. I was taken aback, but knew even then that I was not at a disadvantage. Far from it!

Homeschooling afforded me innumerable opportunities to advance in academic pursuits and explore the breadth of my various talents, interests, and career goals. My 12 years as a homeschooler helped instill what I needed to graduate from college Summa Cum Laude, establish healthy relationships with others, and actively serve those around me. The choice to homeschool is not for everyone, but if it’s yours, embrace it. Contrary to the opinions of some, the best preparation may absolutely be found in the school at home.”
